Dear California customers,
You may or may not have heard about the Assembly Bill 1263 passed in September. Regardless of the chatter and our views on the matter, here is the breakdown of what it means for you to continue to buy gun accessories online from Cross Armory and other online retailers:
📦 1. New Sale & Delivery Requirements for Covered Products
Online retailers shipping into California must comply with several pre-shipping customer checks before completing a sale of regulated items (including firearm accessories, parts, and firearm manufacturing machines): California Attorney General+1
a. Mandatory Notice & Acknowledgment
• Retailers must show the buyer a state-mandated notice that certain conduct (like unlawful manufacturing) is a crime in California.
• Buyers must affirmatively acknowledge they received and understand that notice before purchase. California Attorney General+1
b. Age & Identity Verification
• Retailers must collect and verify a government-issued photo ID from out-of-state and California customers showing the buyer is at least 18 years old (or older if required).
• The delivery address must match the address on the verified ID. USCCA Community+1
c. Signature on Delivery
• Shipments must be delivered with an adult signature required at the door to confirm the recipient matches the verified ID. AR15Discounts
These steps go beyond a normal checkout and apply to many accessories, parts, tools, and firearm-related devices, not just complete firearms.
To put it simply, we have use USPS to deliver your purchase via “Restricted Delivery” which adds a fee and a signature confirmation of the buyer, per the AB 1263 requirements.
All that being said, you can still buy gun parts from your local gun shop without these restrictions. We have often heard that most gun stores do not sell smaller accessories because most people buy them online. We are encouraging our California dealers to start carrying more of our products in their physical locations. If you don’t want to pay a ridiculous amount to have your order delivered, we encourage you to reach out to your local gun shop and ask them to buy from us directly so you can shop in person.
While we are hoping that this bill is soon stayed, we don’t want to alienate our awesome California customers because of ridiculous government overreach. Please reach out to us at sales@crossarmory.com with any questions and we will do our best to explain—or at the very least—commiserate.
Sincerely,
The Team at Cross Armory
