Today is one of the most important days in the United States.
Today, is a day to step back and remember, honor and thank those men and women who served or are serving in the U.S. military. We have close connections to the military at Cross Armory, as friends and family have bravely served the greatest country on Earth.
However, we also want to respect and honor the fallen. It is why we are donating 10 percent of all sales throughout the Veterans Day weekend to the Charlie Humphrey Keating IV Foundation.
Charlie “Chuck” Keating was a 31-year-old Navy SEAL based in Coronado and a friend to many, who died heroically on May 3, 2016. He was part of a “quick reaction force” attempting to rescue American advisers who came under attack from ISIS militants in Iraq. He made the ultimate sacrifice. His death reminds us every day that freedom does not come free.
The Charlie Humphrey Keating IV Foundation was established with the mission, “to research, develop, and implement evidence-based solutions to maintain family unity while improving the transition from Front Lines to Home Front.”
The foundation has also created a clothing line of T-shirts, long sleeve shirts and hats, with sales directed toward the foundation’s mission. Individuals can also donate through the foundation’s website.
Keating’s mother, Krista Keating-Joseph, has published two children’s books about her son. She began writing the first when he was a young child, but never finished, according to media reports. After her son’s passing, she finished the book and then published another. Parts of the proceeds benefit the K9s for Warriors and The Navy SEAL Foundation. Visit the site here.
