The days are moving quickly and on June 30, the State of California will enact yet another set of gun laws and regulations best known as the “Bullet Button Ban.”
After the state passed a bill banning “bullet buttons” and re-classifying any semi-automatic, centerfire rifle or semi-automatic pistol without a fixed magazine, owners of such rifles, like an AR-15, have three options to ensure California compliance.
1) Install the Cross Armory products SAFE MAG (other options include SAFE MAG 2 or AR FIXED MAG, depending on your AR build) and QUICK PINS to ensure a fixed magazine solution and the ability to disassemble the action of the upper and lower receivers. NOTE: SAFE MAG is for MIL-SPEC platforms only. The SAFE MAG 2 will fit all AR-15 including non-MIL-SPEC, custom built and polymer lowers. The AR FIXED MAG is a permanent magazine locking system and requires power tools for removal.
2) Go featureless, which requires AR-15 owners to remove all their “evil” features such as pistol grips, adjustable buttstock and flash hider. Cross Armory’s STOCK LOCK is the perfect tool for those who prefer going featureless and want to lock their adjustable stock instead of purchasing an entirely new one. The STOCK LOCK attaches to any place on the buffer tuber and will not permanently alter the weapon.
3) AR-15 owners may register their weapons with the state’s Department of Justice here. It is our recommendation for AR-15 owners to not register their firearms.
The laws mandating the new requirements are AB 1135 and SB 880. We recommend that all of our customers do their own research and read the laws thoroughly.
The gun laws may suck but your ARs definitely don’t have to. At Cross Armory, our mission is to help you keep the features you love while adhering to the crazy California laws. We live in California too, so we completely understand your frustrations.
